Make Money Blogging – Is It Still Possible?
Some of the people making money blogging would like you to believe they just got lucky… stumbled upon the solution. By presenting themselves as “just an ordinary Joe” it’s easier for them to sell high-priced courses for their “secret formula” to make lots of money.
Maybe these people did get lucky! But it was more than luck that contributed to their success. Without dropping names (yeah I know, I’m a spoilsport), the top bloggers I’ve observed have a lot in common. They’re mainly educated, driven “Type A” personalities and capable of learning from their mistakes.
They also have the right money mindset. Most of them learned early on that to make money you had to be prepared to spend a little. These bloggers invested in knowledge and in the tools they needed to grow their blogs.
Will Most People Find It Too Hard To Make Money Blogging?
No way! It’s just that you can’t expect miracles! Blogging is a side hustle where the amount of effort you put in equates to how much money you can make. It’s just that to be successful, you have to go about blogging the right way.
What do I mean by the right way? Keeping your blog focused on your chosen niche, realizing it’s going to take time and effort to build your blog, promoting your blog effectively, and making sure it has a means of making money.
Based on the Blog Tyrant’s rather small survey of 350 bloggers, 43% of bloggers in 2018 saw blogging as a hobby. And that’s fine, there’s nothing wrong with blogging for fun. But blogging for fun won’t make any money – unless you’re a celebrity, nobody cares about what you did last weekend or the name of your cat!
Can You Really Make Money Blogging?
It’s important to be realistic. In many ways how much money you can make from blogging will depend on your skillset. Forget the “I made $103,000 last month” headlines. Most new bloggers can earn around $500 – $1000 per month if they take a money-making approach.
This means putting in some effort. Finding a niche where you can write with authority (something you’re knowledgeable or passionate about). Promoting your blog through social media and setting up a way of converting traffic into income. (The majority of bloggers resort to adverts, BUT adverts need a lot of traffic to make money, it’s not the best choice on Day 1).
Well…
If you’re willing to put in the time and learn how to go about blogging the right way, it’s possible to build up a decent side income from blogging. Enough to pay for a good holiday every year or upgrade your car. To put money away ready for a crisis.
Without A Goal, You Can’t Score
Making a tonne of money from blogging will take a lot more effort. That doesn’t mean it’s not possible, but it won’t be easy.
